The Battle of Britain Bunker in Uxbridge stays open seven days a week through the winter, 10am to 4.30pm, and its Christmas family day, Keep Calm It’s Christmas, is on Saturday 5 December 2026. Admission is £14 for adults and free for under-16s, and the council-run museum has a winter programme from half term through to a festive tour of its closed-off rooms on 19 December. Discount cards are one per visitor. Opening hours are 10am to 4.30pm, seven days a week, with last admission at 3.30pm.

The Bunker does not publish its Christmas closing days. Its booking calendar lists every date in December, including Christmas Day, which we would not rely on: ring or email before planning a visit between 24 December and 1 January.

Remembrance Sunday (8 November): the Bunker’s annual wreath laying ceremony in its Memorial Garden, 11am to 11.30am, free, all ages. It is the only Remembrance event the council has published in the borough so far. (Hillingdon Council)

Keep Calm It’s Christmas (5 December): a festive family day about how Christmas was kept during the Second World War, with a Christmas PipSqueaks storytelling session, festive family tours, “Keep Calm it’s Christmas” crafts and a Christmas sing-a-thon with a choir. The council lists the cost as “£14 to free” and notes that some activities may vary. (Hillingdon Council)

Festive Secrets Uncovered Tour (19 December): about 90 minutes through hidden rooms, underground corridors and rarely seen objects that have been closed to the public for years, for ages 12 and over. It goes down 76 steps, so wear comfortable shoes. Adults £15, over-65s £12, under-16s free. (Hillingdon Council)

The Bunker also runs Secrets Uncovered tours on the last Saturday of every month, monthly PipSqueaks story sessions for children aged 18 months to 4, and term-time Twilight Yoga on Monday evenings. (Battle of Britain Bunker)

Getting there

The Bunker is on Wren Avenue, Uxbridge UB10 0GG. Its own directions (Battle of Britain Bunker):

  • Tube: Uxbridge station (Metropolitan and Piccadilly), then about a mile on foot following the blue tourist signs through Dowding Park via the High Street and St Andrew’s Road. There is a taxi rank at the station.
  • Bus: the A10 or U3 from Heathrow, or the 427, U1, U4 or U7, to St Andrew’s Church, then walk through Dowding Park. The U2 stops at Hercies Road and Honey Hill.
  • Car: a free car park for museum visitors. The site is inside the ULEZ.

Access: the visitor centre has a lift and ramp, with accessible parking near the entrance, and assistance dogs are welcome. The operations room itself is underground and reached by stairs.
